Spraying varnish or paint can be tricky for beginners and old hands alike, particularly if you have too little space to move around the piece as you spray.

Build a turntable to use on top of your workbench or finishing table. First, from 34 " plywood, cut a piece with a 3' diameter, and screw a 34 " pipe flange at its center. Near the perimeter, attach four or more swivel plate casters, as shown above. Finally, thread a pipe nipple into the flange and drill a hole in the top of your bench to receive the nipple that serves as a turntable pivot. This handy device allows you to rotate pieces easily after you finish spraying each side.
