Sliding stop slips down out of the way
You need a solid edge to butt your workpiece against. But clamping a stop to your bench is awkward and time-consuming.

Mount a stop that slides up and down on the end of your bench. Make the stop from a piece of 3⁄4 x 2 x 10" plywood, and cut the slots at a 10° angle. Then, install two lag screws to guide the board on the angled slots. Loosen the lag screws whenever you need to raise or lower the stop. Tighten the lag screws when the stop is in position.
