Constantly resetting calipers can prove to be a monotonous chore that requires a lot of time and poses the possibility of making incorrect settings.

Cut a piece of stock that tapers from 12 " to 312 " wide for a gauge to set your calipers. Draw lines at widths you commonly use and label them as shown above. You will have made a quick-to-use gauge for flawlessly setting calipers.
