Safely bandsaw 45° rips on narrow pieces

Ripping narrow workpieces at a 45° angle on my bandsaw used to require raising the guard 4"—and still the fence was only 2" from the blade. To remedy that unsafe situation, build a simple auxiliary fence, like the one shown, to fit over the saw's fence. You'll be able to set the blade guard and guides at a safe and effective height, and have enough room to maneuver a pushstick.
