Dehumidifier rods keep glues and finishes ready to use, regardless of the outside temperature.

Drawing of dehumidifier rod in cabinet

During cold weather, I keep my finishes and glues safe inside a dedicated cabinet warmed by a low-wattage heater. Sold as "dehumidifier rods" for gun safes, these heaters come in a variety of shapes and sizes.

I applied rigid foam insulation to the inside of the cabinet, then drilled a hole for the heater cord. I situated the heater away from direct contact with finish and glue containers. With the heater plugged in, I can relax knowing my glues and finishes will be ready to use, regardless of the outside temperature.
