While browsing the aisles of my neighborhood discount store, I ran across cradles for my sharpening stones: silicone sponge holders.

Their size matches my coarse, medium, and fine waterstones. The ribs on the bottom elevate the stone away from the swarf generated during sharpening. Being silicone, they stay in place on my benchtop without slipping while sharpening, and cleanup is easy—just rinse them with soap and water.
