Shop space constraints demand that my workbench be mobile. So I purchased a set of casters that individually lift each leg of the bench when foot pressure is applied to them. The mechanisms work fine, but I was concerned with the long-term effect of racking the bench base when lifting each leg by itself.

The solution: Connect the foot pedals with 34 " steel tube as shown. Now you can lift or drop both casters with one application of your foot. No racking and less effort! You can find this type of workbench caster at woodmagazine.com/benchcasters.
