Reverse your outline when marking on dark woods

It's hard to see a pencil mark on dark woods, such as walnut. Instead, apply painter's tape to the face of your workpiece. Then, use a marking knife to score along the outline, remove all the tape on one side, and you're left with a vivid outline.
