Gridded Pattern Gives Carvers a Ready Reference
The next time you're angling for some new figures to carve, make a gridded piece of plywood. Mark or scribe lines at 1" intervals and coat the surface with a marine varnish or polyurethane. Place the catch of the day on the plywood and take a photograph. When the photos are developed, you'll have a scale pattern to work from.
