My woodworking hobby steered me into refurbishing old furniture years ago. For such delicate work, I needed a small-parts edge sander. So I converted my random-orbit sander into this tabletop edge sander using scraps of MDF. Once I customized the cutout to support the sander, the rest went together quickly. The sander drops into the cradle, the clamp rests on top of the sander, and the press bolts over that. A turn of the clamp screw locks the sander in place and I'm ready to sand.

Converting back and forth from random-orbit sander to edge sander takes only a couple of minutes, but I've found this setup so useful that I rarely remove it from the holder.
