If you've had trouble in the past aligning big pieces of plastic laminate over a surface coated with contact cement, the solution is hanging in your closet. Ordinary wire coat hangers make excellent positioning aids.

First, coat your surfaces with contact cement. While that's drying, grab some wire coat hangers and bend them into the elongated shape shown at top. When the contact cement becomes tack-dry, lay the coat hangers, as shown, about 8" apart. Then, place your plastic laminate on top of the coat hangers and align the laminate and substrate. Working from one end to the other, remove the coat hangers and adhere the laminate to the substrate.
