To simplify loosening the motor of my fixed-base router mounted in a router table, I fashioned an extension from 1⁄2" EMT (electrical metallic tubing) conduit.

To simplify loosening the motor of my fixed-base router mounted in a router table, I fashioned an extension from 1⁄2 " EMT (electrical metallic tubing) conduit. To make your own, cut and bend one end of the EMT to fit snugly over the router's tightening wing nut. Extend the tube's other end through a hole in the side of the router table and add a handle consisting of a bolt and lock nut.
