It's a scary situation when a small cutoff catches a tablesaw or mitersaw blade and fires back at you. So, needing to cut a large number of small discs from a length of dowel, I sought a way to capture those pieces before they became projectiles. The solution was as near as my shop vacuum. I clamped its open hose near the blade, used masking tape to reduce the hose opening and increase suction, turned on the vacuum, and made the cuts. Each disc was safely sucked into the vacuum as soon as it was sawed free.
