My tablesaw's front-locking rip fence sometimes deflects, causing problems when I'm ripping a large workpiece. To stop the deflection, I use a magnetic dial-indicator base (part no. H3328, from Grizzly Industrial, or grizzly.com) to steady the outfeed end of the fence. I place the magnet on the outside of the fence, where shown, and flip the switch. The magnet holds the fence in place under 10–15 pounds of pressure, giving me just enough insurance to cut with confidence.
