WOOD magazine review

Raise your color game without raising the grain

Review Summary

Water-based stains have been around a while, but until now they all caused wood surface fibers to fuzz after drying (raised grain). These Pure Color stains elimi- nate that pesky issue without sacrificing color. I applied all the colors in the pallete to red oak boards, and love the vibrant colors and tones, as well as the absence of bad smell. I was also able to create custom colors by blending two or more stains.
Sold in plastic bags with pourable spouts, these stains must be dispensed into a cup for application. (Be careful not to spill as you get used to this unique system.) Because the colorant settles, mix up the stain first by simply squeezing the bag until blended. And when you close the bag, squeeze out any air to keep the stain vibrant and fresh.
