Blade brake provides safety like no other saw

Review Summary

HIGH POINTS ↑ With its unique blade-brake safety system, this saw protects your fingers like no other. ↑ Its rip fence did not deflect at all in our testing. ↑ The power switch with large "off" paddle proved easy to use. ↑ Outstanding dust collection, thanks to a blade shroud and effective port on the blade guard.
Hose support, mounting hardware, and 1-1/4" hose sold as optional accessories. ↑ Tool-free, quick-release throat insert and riving knife make for easy changes between the blade guard and riving knife. ↑ Built-in mobile base makes it easy to move around. ↑ It has the best owner's manual and assembly instructions, and all hardware is labeled and sorted in blister packs for easy identification. MORE POINTS → Its rip fence is the shortest in the test at 35" long, but it's the tallest at 2-3/4". → The miter gauge has width adjusters on the bar, but only three miter stops.

IT'S CHEAPER THAN FINGERS

Review Summary

After having one not near-enough miss with a more dated saw and aging a bit, I bit the bullet on this beauty to protect my fingers. I chose the Pro over the contractor primarily because of dust collection and I've been very happy with that decision. The pro model is a high quality saw. Everything works smoother than my old JET contractor which was/is also a very good saw.
I do grumble about the extra time now required to add and remove dado blades because you also have to change the blade brake. I love the way the riving knife and/or blade guard mount and store. Quick and easy to change. While the blade guard is very nice, I seldom use it because it doesn't work well with narrow rips. And the provided right wing table is too flimsy to support a router of any size - not a big deal if you have a router table elsewhere. It says it will hold a 2 HP router (I use a 3 horse) but I think SawStop's table is better suited to a trim router if you want to maintain a flat table. I replaced it with my own heavy duty, but flat, table.

Sawstop 3hp Professional Tablesaw

Review Summary

This is my fourth tablesaw and by far, the best of any I've used. The assembly instructions along with the numbered and color coded parts and hardware blister pack made assembly a breeze. The initial fit, quality and appearance of this machine is excellant. I like the straight up and down adjustment of the trunnion system and the elavation and tilt handwheels operate very smoothly. Dust collection on this saw is the best of any I've used.
The included combination blade does a reasonably good job. The 3hp motor has all the grunt reqiured of this type of saw and does not bog down under heavy loads. The tooless riving knife works very well and is a welcome change. Alligning the table to the blade was very easy to accomplish and very easy to set accurately. The supplied blade wrenches are heavy duty and easy to keep track of on the supplied wrench hook attached to the side of the cabinet. Their is another accessory tool holder on the other side of the cabinet for the mitre guage and blade guard. The table insert has a nifty lifting device that works well. A zero clearance insert is also included. Changing over to a (8") dado blade requires a separate brake cartridge and takes a few minutes to change but the safety aspect of this system makes it all wothwhile time spent. The 52" fence on my saw works awesome and the thin red cursor on the magnified lenses make it easy for old eyes to see clearly. Setting it up square to the table and parralell to the mitre slots was painlessly easy. The ruler is marked in standard and metric scale. Overall, the fence is accurate, easy to use and very solid. This saw was a gift from my son and he purchased extra blade and dado cartridges for me. With the 52" fence and mobile base the price was reasonably increased, but in my opinion, the value in safety makes this saw a "STEAL"! I highly recommend this saw to anybody in the market for a replacement or first time tablesaw. It is easily my favorite tool to use in my shop.

SawStop 3HP 220v Professional table saw

Review Summary

I've owned this table saw for a few months now, and have nothing negative to say about it whatsoever. Every part of this saw is top notch. As others have mentioned, the packaging is unbelievable!! Very safely/securely packed and shipped. Assembly instructions could not be better or easier. Even a cave man could put this thing together. This saw has tons of power, is extremely quiet, vibration free, has great dust collection, and the brake system really does work. I know first hand.
I toasted my 4 hour old 8" Freud stacked dado blade and SawStop dado braking cartridge in a split second. I was cutting mitered cuts with my Incra miter jig. When I went to swing the miter gauge to cut the opposite cuts, I forgot to check to see if the end of the metal jig would hit the blade. And it did. I've since turned the braking system "off" while doing these types of cuts. A $300.00 mistake on my part. (I do believe a grown man cried that day.) Oh well, it could have much worse. I ordered my saw along with the professional mobile base. I really love the hydraulic system on this base. Well worth the extra few bucks. This giant moves around my very uneven shop floor with ease. As for others saying that the brake cartridges are hard or tedious to change...I'd have to disagree. After performing a cartridge change once or twice, it will take you but a few seconds to do it in the future. Great saw, great value, and the braking system works as promised.
