Description

The award winning PM2000 table saw sets a new standard for innovation with an array of patented features and massive body design. It boasts the heaviest cast iron base in its class that virtually eliminates table vibration. The cast iron tables are oversized, and the push button arbor lock is accessible from above the table top to eliminate the need for dual arbor wrenches. The quick-release riving knife design helps reduce the chance of kickback. The blade tilt scale has adjustable angle indicators for repetitive bevel cuts. Built-in retractable omni-directional caster system mobilizes your table saw. A wide stance, heavy-duty trunnion and concave teeth on the trunnion gears promote easier raising and tilting of saw blade. Poly-V drive belt system results in quieter, more efficient power transfer from the motor to the arbor with virtually no vibration and less heat build up. Built-in dust collection port with sloped cabinet floor and convenient access to the inside of the saw cabinet make for simple clean-up. The saw has a proprietary safety switch with magnetic interlock, and the stop button can be knee activated.

The go to saw for cabinet shops for many years !

Review Summary

This saw has long been the beefiest cabinet grade table saw on the market for many years and the reason why it was the most preferred by cabinet shops . I've had mine for over 20 years now and it still performs as accurately and powerfully as the day I first set it up. I just recently had to change the belts when one of the three belts that turns the arbor suddenly broke. That's the only thing I've had to do to it in all these years.
I believe that they actually still make this model in America. The newer models are probably better because they now come with a riving knife and hopefully a better dust collection set up which this one was weak on. I think you'll find that this is a better built unit than their newer PM 2000.

I enjoy using this table saw!

Review Summary

I purchased my saw almost 2 years ago, having used nearly every make teaching in 5 different school districts in 29 years. The PM2000 is much like the old Model 66. I have the 50" to the right Biesemeyer fence and the 3 hp. Plently of power and performs great. I usually used my Craftsman 12" with dado blades and anything questionable, barn board etc. is sawn with the Hitachi 10" saw. It does not have the power for 2" hardwoods.
The only complaint I can think of is the crosscut guide adjustment is fastened with two small screws that are easily stripped. I placed moveable tables on the outfeed side of every saw that I run long stock or sheets out on. The Powermatic is a joy to saw with!
