WOOD magazine review

Powerful saw with big-saw features

Review Summary

With a 2-hp motor prewired for 220 volts, this saw displays great power compared to other saws in this price range. It has a full cast-iron top that deadens vibration and proves easy to align with the blade, thanks to cabinet-mounted trunnions that adjust from outside the cabinet. It comes with a dependable rip fence that locks without moving and does not deflect when ripping, as well as a basic three-stop miter gauge that proved accurate once calibrated.
We like its blade guard for ease of use and ease of removing, as well as the included riving knife. Dust collection is very good thanks to a shroud around the blade that connects to a 4" port. Our only gripes: the rip fence scale is marked in confusing-length increments, and the blade throat opening is narrower than two hands should be expected to fit into.

Great Saw For the $$$$$$$$$

Review Summary

I totally agree with the WOOD Magazine Review. Now that I have a few projects under my belt using this saw, all I can add is that this is a great value in a TS. I have had only one issue with this saw in the 6 months of ownership. The alignment from the factory was spot on. Even the 45 degree angle front to back blade calibration was perfect. Yes the slot is narrow for us full body handed users, but this is only a slight inconvenience.
I have mine mounted on a mobile base to move around the garage. The only issue I have ran into was the dust collection hose connection to the blade carriage assembly. When saw is tilted to a 45, sometimes the hose comes off. To solve, I changed the hose to a wire wound super tough flexible hose. The new hose is opaque, so I can see scraps that might be stuck in hose. Just checked calibration of saw this morning after some hard extended use and not one critical alignment point has changed. I have been using full kerf blades and this saw has the power to turn them. No power issues even when cutting stock 2+ inches thick. There are many calling this saw a Hybrid unit, but not sure I agree. This is just a superb 2hp cabinet saw. Trunnions size are similar to the Powermatic 66.Carrige lift system is it`s own unique design that works great and is very robust. So if your looking for a good, no great saw bargain, this is it.
