WOOD magazine review

Good saw with just a few "speed bumps"

Review Summary

We couldn't bog down this saw even when we cut 8/4 white oak, so it's got all the power you'll likely need thanks to electronic circuitry that monitors and maintains blade speed. We were able to dial in this saw's trunnions and blade-tilt stops for spot-on accuracy, and all those adjustments are made on the outside of the saw cabinet, a handy feature.
The miter gauge is decent enough, and we like the rip fence and its 25" capacity, but the lock that secures the blade guards to the riving knife sticks out 1" to the right, getting in the way of pushsticks on narrow rip cuts. The wheeled stand can be set up at two heights, the lower one helpful for large, heavy boards. But the rip fence doesn't mount securely to the saw base when not in use and sticks out beyond the protective "zone" of the stand, and it tended to bang into door jambs and other tools when we moved it around. And at 130 lbs, it's the heaviest of the job-site saws and a chore to lift into a pickup.
