Big capacities and accurate cuts

Review Summary

Ridgid’s newest mitersaw, a 12" dual-beveling slider, is a solidly built brute that should stand up just fine to years of use. But it’s also a precision saw capable of delivering furniture-quality cuts when outfitted with an 80-tooth or higher blade.
(The included 60-tooth blade is better suited to cutting construction and decking materials where cut quality proves less important.) We like being able to crosscut 13-1/2"-wide boards without flipping them and making two cuts, as we've had to do in the past with a standard compound mitersaw. The MS1290LZA miters 61° left and right, and bevels up to 47° each side. Those capacities prove helpful when making cuts to compensate for out-of-square corners. Still, this large saw weighs 70 lbs, and can be awkward for one person to carry. And the line projected by the arbor-mounted laser changes position with different workpiece thicknesses and as you bring the saw head down to cut. We found it more frustrating than helpful.

Great Tool

Review Summary

I purchased my Ridgid 12 in. Sliding Compound Miter Saw with Laser and the Ridgid Miter Saw Utility Vehicle on 4/9/2011.
My primary use is furniture making and the tool came complete with an 80 tooth carbide blade and the Ridgid Miter Saw Utility Vehicle all for the price of $569.00 as the Utility cart was included as a special at no cost which is normally $189.00. The saw was easy to set up but I did spend an entire day with the setup as I require the unit to have the utmost accuracy for the type of work I bought it for. As this unit is a sliding saw the dust collection has a lot to be desired, but that is the case with all the sliders. The utility cart being included at no cost made this a very attractive deal. I have used this saw for 2 years now and I like it more each time I use it. I had no problems with alignments even after relocating the saw a couple of times to my sons house to help him with a basement remodeling project. You just can't beat the Life Time service agreement. I have several Rigid tools and have registered all of them for the Life Time service but to date have not had to attempt to collect on that agreement yet. I have been in my local Home Depot store though and have seen other persons collect on battery replacements with no hassles. I would recommend this product to others and would purchase it again for myself. It is well worth the investment. There is nothing better than well built dependable tools.

Dependable Compund Miter saw

Review Summary

This purchase was a great addition to my workshop. Right out of the box it made accurate angle cuts. It is powerful enough to cut through any board or timber I have cut. The warranty speaks for itself. I havre never had a problem with this saw since I have owned it (4 years) other than blades and replacement of batteries on the cutting laser. The cutting laser's accuracy is right on which save me time and material.
This is a really impressive compund miter saw that I plan on having many years in the future. If you are looking for a replacement or looking to purchase a compound miter saw I recommend you consider this saw.
