WOOD magazine review

Accurate with lots of capacity

Review Summary

A step up in many ways from DeWalt's 10" sliding mitersaw, the DWS780 has ample power for sawing through 2"-thick white oak. It was spot-on accurate at every miter setting right out of the box, but if you should ever need to adjust it, it's a simple process. The bevel scales are easy to read and use and the stops were again dead-on.
With a 1" arbor and bushing for 5/8", you've got plenty of options for blade choices, and you'll need it because the factory blade is better suited for cutting construction lumber, not fine woodworking. But when we upgraded the blade, we got smooth, clean cuts. We like its built-in LED light system that casts light on both sides of the blade, creating a shadow where the blade will cut—very handy and accurate. The only real concern with this saw is the dust collection. Mitersaws are notorious for spewing dust everywhere and catching a small portion of it in the bag. But this saw's long collection tube plugs up frequently, rendering the bag useless.

Mitersaw

Review Summary

I've used this product for several years and have been very happy with it's overall performance. No real glitches or frustrating events have developed over the years of use.
Adjustments have remained set and easy to redo if ever needed. Miters remain consistent and the sliding mechanism tracks truly. Dust collection does little using the bag, and I quickly went to a dedicated vacuum system resolving most of the mess. Then listed price is bit higher than when I purchased it from the Blue Box, but time .......... As long as production quality HAS been maintained, as seen in mine, I'd highly recommend this product. DeWalt DWS780 12" Miter saw

Review Summary

Currently its the best miter saw that Dewalt makes. Its is a Pro series for sure. Plenty of power. The LED shadow line is very accurate (but hard to see outdoors in direct sunlight). Its more sturdy then the Bosch version with the hinges (pinch points). Built more solid then the Craftsman one too. Top performance & features. Can be a little complicated for the first time or occasional novice user. You get what you pay for with this saw, totally worth the $600.
But if you are looking for a decent non-Pro very basic miter saw 'deal', I would get the 10" Skill 3315-04 for $120.
