WOOD magazine review

Long power cord with lighted plug

Review Summary

Reasonably aggressive, yet smooth-running and easy to control, the R2600 delivered good performance despite being the lowest-priced sander in our test of 12. It left fewer scratches on pine than on oak, but was on the cusp of being among the leaders. It did, however, leave more dust on the workpiece and in the air than we’d like. The R2600 also has Ridgid’s signature long power cord with a lighted plug and a hook-and-loop wrap.

Need better brake

Review Summary

I have had this sander for along time and have put it through its paces. It has always left a nice finish, but the braking pad always wears out in a short period of time. I will be looking for a new sander soon as the brake is critically important and can ruin a work piece if the pad is not slowed down.

very good tool

Review Summary

I have owned this tool for a couple of years and have been quite pleased with it. I just recently had to replace the brake and bearing on this. Then the pad went bad. When I purchased the new pad I also purchased one each of the pad ,brake and bearing for backup. I had to buy another sander while I was waiting for parts to arrive and it was a different brand, not at all happy with that one. When the day comes and this one dies I will purchase another one just like it.

Excellent Choice For Box Store Brand

Review Summary

This is the first random orbit sander I have owned, having decided it was time to upgrade to something more aggressive than standard oscillating finishing sanders. I have always been impressed with Rigid's Lifetime Service Warranty, and it is hard to argue against that with other brands. I was incredibly impressed with how versatile this particular sander was.
It is comfortable to hold, has a variable speed knob that lets you fine tune to the species of wood you are working with, and a great carry case to keep everything organized. PRO's Long, lighted cord Variable speed Aggressive 8-hole dust collection Tough hook and loop pad Smooth operation and pad break. (Unit doesn't bog down easily) Con's Included sandpaper is low quality Tough hook and loop pad (I put this here because at time I feel like it is going to rip the paper when changing grits. Hasn't yet though) Recessed sliding power switch can be a bit difficult to get to. All in all, the $70 price tag is completely worth it for the hobbyist/small professional looking for an affordable and well performing tool.
