Great sander for the money

Review Summary

Pros: large table cast iron trunnion plenty of power smooth and quiet price Cons: table not flat out of the box- some properly placed shims fixed that. stamped steel table inserts are far from flat - I made some out of Corian poor dust collection All in all I am happy with the sander. The cons are easily fixed. Money wise you are ahead of the game.

Excellent Spindle Sander

Review Summary

The ad read Like New Grizzly G1071 Sander. Made the trip to look at another "Like New" machine. He was telling the truth. It was not only like new.....it was never unpacked. All the packing goo was still in place but had dried over the years to the consistency of old hardened toothpaste. After getting it back to the shop all it needed was a lube change for the oil bath the spindle sits in. The machine is quite, smooth, well made, the spindle stroke is more than adequate.
At almost 300 lbs no strange vibrations that need to be dampened. The dust vac port works fine. I have found nothing negative to write about. The tabletop is flat and smooth. what assembly was needed is easy following the directions. The parts are heavy so plan ahead when putting it together to avoid pinched fingers. I have not needed to tilt the top for any sanding but the insert openings are elongated to allow for it. 5 stars across the board for this one. A quick call to Grizzly confirmed the "Like New" machine was manufactured and shipped.......11 years ago.
