Grizzly Benchtop Spindle Sander

Review Summary

The Grizzly G0538 features a 14×20" laminate-covered MDF top with the spindle offset. We like that, because most of the time we're working on the right side of the spindle. Despite its small size, it sands with gusto while still being easy to finesse. A shop-vacuum hose connected easily to the 2-1⁄2" port below the table and sucked up all the dust. We had to anchor it to our workbench, though, because the lightweight unit scooted around when unsecured.

Nice spindle sander for the money.

Review Summary

I was using this spindle sander right next to the Rigid brand and this Grizzly was more powerful. The dust extraction works well when attached to your shop vac. This unit is light weight too which makes it easy to set up on your work bench for use. Not a tool I use a lot but a real life saver when I need it. This appears to be the same unit that was or still is being distributed by Ryobi. Has been a solid performer for me for many years now.
A great buy if your not using a spindle sander all day long every day.

Small tool wth big performance

Review Summary

Studied oscillating sanders for quite a while before deciding to try this smaller machine. I tend to buy the largest floor model machine that I can justify to myself, but was unsure how much I would use a spindle sander. Very surprised and pleased with this little workhorse. You definitely need to clamp or bolt it down, as mentioned, otherwise it will be "dancing"around on your bench. I have been using it extensively on my smaller projects, anything with a contour.
Have found it very powerful on all woods that I have used it on - oak, cherry, cedar, poplar, cypress, and been impressed with the quality of the output. Well worth the small price. Doubt I will move up to a a floor model monster.
