Description

Works as an abrasive thickness and surface finisher on stock as wide as 32". This JET unit offers big sander performance in a small package.Cantilevered design features a rigid open-sided frame that supports a 16" sanding drum above an integral, variable speed (0-10' per minute) power feed unit. The power feed conveyor runs on a reinforced steel bed, providing a no-give surface for consistent thickness and flawless finishes. The 5" x 16" extruded aluminum drum has greater strength, heat dissipation, and resists warping better than hollow, closed-end aluminum or steel drums. Drum height is adjusted by simply turning the top mounted handle. Handles stock from 3" down to less than 1/32". Stock wider than 16" can be reversed and run through a second time to sand material up to 32" wide. Spring tensioned abrasive fasteners make belt changes easy. Uses standard cloth backed abrasive. Includes: stand, storage shelf, built in dust port, one 80 grit abrasive strip, 110V-1.5 HP motor.

Little to no set up and excellent operation

Review Summary

little to no set up required. Hardest part of assembly is mounting to stand. Operates smoothly and is very quiet. Dust collection worked very well and did not see any dust escape.Adjustment by wheel for height is easy and allows a fine spacing. Have to ask why did I not get this years ago?

Great performer

Review Summary

Above price is much outdated. This unit comes complete with a heavy duty stand which takes a good hour to put together and another hour to mount the sander. I added the Kreg locking wheelds, which work great if you have a small shop and need to move your tool for use. Operation of this sander is very easy once you get used to using it.
I set the feed motor at 50% and turn on the sander and start the board through while lowering the sanding drum until it just starts to sand the board I run he entire board through that initial setting and then lower the sanding drum 1/64 ", thats 1/4 turn on the drum adjuster, for each pass. You can be more agrees if using a 60 or 80 grit sanding belt. I finish with 180 - 220 depending on the desired finish. The dust removel works well. The belts are easy to change once you get used to doing it. It takes me about 1 1/2 minutes to change the sanding belt on the drum. A special tool is included to assist in the change at is used on the back holder for the belt. The tool also holds the belt down freeing your hands to work the belt in pkace. I love this machine as it saves me a lot of time finish sanding. If you can only afford one tool I would get this before a surface planer.
