WOOD magazine review

Powerful, heavy-duty with top-notch accessories

Review Summary

High points: Powerful enough to sand hardwoods with heavy pressure and not slow noticeably. Has cast-iron table with intersecting 3/4" miter slots for lots of options for jigs and fixtures. Comes with a circle-sanding jig and a decent-quality miter gauge. The steel platen is flat, maintains inertia for easy sanding, and allows the easiest abrasive removal of the six sanders we tested. Manual disc brake stops disc quickly.
This version comes with a stand and filter that collects dust propelled into it by a built-in impeller for the best dust collection. Low points: Most expensive machine in this class. Nonadjustable table-angle pointer is difficult to read. More points: It’s heavy by far at 135 pounds. Although not portable, the Jet’s weight gives it stability and dampens vibration for stationary use.
