WOOD magazine review

Large, heavy table with powerful motor

Review Summary

High points: Its 1-hp motor powered the platen with plenty of oomph without bogging down under heavy load. And with a cast-iron platen that would otherwise spin for several minutes after shutdown, the automatic electronic brake is a nice feature to stop it in about 3 seconds. The large cast-iron table has intersecting miter slots for use with jigs and fixtures. Dust collection was very good when hooked up to a shop vacuum.
Low points: Its miter slots are narrower than 3/4", making it impossible to use aftermarket miter gauges or T-track for making jigs. Instead, you have to use the unspectacular miter gauge, or make your own miter "bar" stock from wood. More points: The shield over the right portion of the disc keeps you from accidentally using that side (never sand on the upswing portion), but it also has to be removed to change abrasive, adding more difficulty to this chore.
