Review

From the moment I picked up Ridgid’s R2401 trim router I was impressed. The overmolded grip proved a perfect fit for my hand, and its heft told me this was no toy.
And when I fired it up and began routing wood, its performance confirmed my impressions. Despite its compact size, the R2401 muscled through every task I threw at it: round-overs, coves, beads, chamfers, flush trimming, and even 1 ⁄4" dadoes. This router features a soft-start motor with variable speeds from 20,000 to 30,000 rpm, and the lighted plug on its 12'-long cord indicates when it’s “live.” The R2401 comes with two bases—square and round—as well as an edge guide, two wrenches, a flush-trim bit, and a zippered canvas storage bag. —Tested by Craig Ruegsegger
