WOOD magazine review

Very capable trimmer

Review Summary

As trim routers go, this Makita does a commendable job at what it's tasked with. It's a very handy, compact trim router that's ideal for light-duty work such as round-overs, coves, chamfers, and flush-trimming. The motor proves plenty powerful for these jobs, but does produce a high whine that can be annoying (wear hearing protection). Bit changes are simple enough with a spindle lock and self-releasing collet.
The LED lights are a nice touch, especially when working in hard-to-see areas. The clear base is nice for visibility and has a big enough footprint, but the thumbwheel doesn't grab like promised when making tiny adjustments, so this can be fussy to do.

Great for trimming and light uses

Review Summary

This router is such a pleasure to use. It's light in weight, but still stout enough to handle all the edging jobs I've asked of it. I like it for routing roundovers and chamfers and coves, and it works great without getting hot in my hand the way some trimmers do. The base is a little small so you don't get much surface contact, but for a one-handed trimmer, I don't know how you'd beat it.

Review Summary

This trim router performs as expected. It is more than capable of doing the trimming I ask of it. It is well balanced an I like the clear base in it as this. It comes with a comprehensive set of accessories and clear instructions. I felt like this was a very good purchase and I am very happy with this little router.
