Bosch Colt mini-router

Review Summary

Bought this router thinking it might be helpful for small jobs, laminate trimming, etc. Had some 1/4" bits from an old router and have added new ones. The Colt performs wonderfully in every application I've tried so far. It has plenty of power to drive all the bits I've used (haven't pushed it with coving, etc) and the controlability is excellent because of the way it fits your hand. Have not used it much with accessories, since all my bits are bearing-guided.
Highly recommend it for most routing applications.

Good Little Edge Router

Review Summary

I have been using this router for several years now, and it is a good little unit. Plenty of power, good speed control, easy to grip with one hand (and I have small hands), good chuck, easy to install bits. The kit came with all kinds of accessories that work very well. Now for the downsides, minor though they may be: - It is hard to see through the base to the bit.
A clear base would help, but the hole in the base is sized for a Porter-Cable style guide bushing and restricts visibility. - You have to be careful when setting the height adjustment. For gross adjustments, you twist the base and disengage the screw for the thumbwheel height adjustment. When you are done, you twist the base back to its original position and use the thumbwheel to finish the adjustments. Here is the rub: If you don't get the base engaged with the screw adjustment, the bit will fall into your work piece the first time you apply downward pressure. I wrecked a piece learning this little bit of information. - The thumbwheel depth adjustment requires you to loosen the motor retaining latch before you can make adjustments, which makes everything feel loose. I can't say it has caused me problems, but I worry about it. I wish you could use the thumbwheel without loosening the latch. All in all a decent router. I use it frequently whenever there is edging to do.
