Rubber overmold grip for one-hand use

Review Summary

High Points: It displayed nice power and the electronic feedback maintained spindle speed even under heavy load. Spring-loaded plunge lock is easily reached without removing your hand from the handle and never slipped during our tests. A rubber grommet over the through-the-base height adjustment keeps dust from plugging the hole. The interchangeable subbases have one opening for Porter-Cable-style guide bushings and the other for larger bits. It comes with a five-year warranty.
More Points: The case is a trifold, with the router and second base sitting upright on the middle section. We spilled it a couple of times before we got used to standing it on edge prior to opening.

Very Good Kit

Review Summary

I purchased this kit about two years ago and it has become my main router. I also have routers by Makita, Bosch and Porter-Cable. The two bases supplied work very well. The fixed base is stable and it is easy to get the router motor in and out of the base. Height adjustments are easy and accurate. A centering device is supplied so you can center the baseplate and eliminate problems with running one side or the other against your guide device.
My hands are small, so I don't use the router one-handed very often. I do sometimes grip the router body with one hand and one of the handles with the other when doing edge work. The soft start works well and doesn't jerk the router when you start it up. The speed control does a nice job of keeping the bit at one speed. The plunge base has become my favorite. It works very smoothly and plunges are silky. Visability is good with the clear baseplate. The plunge depth adjustment works well and is easy to adjust. Handles are well placed and the router doesn't give that top heavy feel that some have. A couple of minor quibbles: The dust collection gizmo is kind of klutzy to use. It doesn't fit any hose on my vacuums and any hose does tend to pull the router off to one side. Then again, I haven't really seen a good dust collection setup for the top of a handheld router. The other quibble is that the router motor does not have any light on it, so you have to have a fairly bright light where you are using it. This isn't a problem in my shop as I have lots of sunlight, but it could be an issue for some. This is a good router and I recommend it.
