Description

Variable speed, heavy-duty motor delivers 12,000-25,000 rpm. Soft start permits the motor rpm to slowly increase to the desired speed setting. Three integrated work lights clearly illuminate the work surface. Die-cast aluminum motor housing adds strength while limiting and reducing vibration. Choose either the standard fixed base or dual-arm plunge base with depth gauge, turret stop and machined arms for smooth up/downward motion which plunges up to 2-3/16 inches. Each base features large, clear, 6-11/16" subbase with square edge on the plunge. Oversized debris shield and vacuum shield provide a clear sightline to the bit. Spindle lock allows for easy bit exchanges. Live tool indicator lights up when power is connected. Router includes 1/4" and 1/2" collets, edge guide, bit wrench, operators manual and storage case.

WOOD magazine review

Big-time performer for small price

Review Summary

High Points: Showed surprising power and ability to maintain spindle speeds for a lower-cost router. A speed chart on the motor shows the dial settings for various bit sizes. Clear subbases and LED lights increase visibility around the bit. Low Points: The plunge base depth scale is small, hard to read, and partially blocked by the depth rod.
Small adjustment knob on the plunge base makes micro-adjustments difficult. More Points: Subbases on fixed and plunge bases have bit openings sized for Porter-Cable-style guide bushings. But you’ll need to buy Craftsman’s optional 6-subbase kit (#64182, $20) to get one with a larger bit opening.

China made Craftsman router

Review Summary

Bought this to replace my 30+ yr old USA made Craftmans Router - Was disappointed to find out it was made in China! I mean Sears Craftsman always ment Made In the USA years past. However I was happily surprised at how well built it is and durable it seems. Don't like the micro adjustment (worm gear) sloppy not good for use in a router table. 1/4" bit collar sticks. Over all pretty good tool for the price.
My old one still works just some parts need replaced and are no longer available. So if I get half as much use and time out of this one I'll be happy. Have recommended this new model and have friends who have bought it as well - But again caution does not micro adjustment sloppy!
