WOOD magazine review

3 bases, one motor

Review Summary

High Points: The D-handle fixed base is a nice addition to the other standard fixed and plunge bases. A speed chart on the motor shows the dial settings for various bit sizes. The quick-connect power cord removes easily for changing bits or repacking in the case.
Clear subbases and LED lights increase visibility around the bit. Low Points: Although the owner’s manual says this router’s lowest speed is 12,000 RPM, we could not get it to go below 15,000, an issue when using large panel-raising bit, for example. The fixed base microadjustment does not have a quick-release feature. The depth scale on the plunge base is hard to read and partially blocked by the depth rod. More Points: Just as with the Craftsman 17543, you’ll need to buy an optional subbase kit to get a large bit opening.
