Stout motor, but short on user-friendly features

Review Summary

When we tested compact routers (1 to 1-1/4 hp) by routing 1/2" mortises, this model surprised us with its stout motor and electronic feedback to maintain bit speed. But, it lacks variable speed and a soft-start motor, features we really like. We do, however, like the trigger-type power switch on one handle—with most models you have to release a hand from a handle to power on and off—but it lacks a lock, leading to finger fatigue on lengthy jobs.
With a low starting bit height, short plunge, no fine adjustment, and a plunge lever that kept popping off the machine we were using, this plunger lacks the user-friendly features of other routers in its class. It comes with an edge guide, but a guide-bushing subbase and dust hood will cost you extra.
