Fein RT-1800 Plunge Router

Review Summary

This model has been discontinued by the manufacturer. High points: Earned high marks in most handheld performance tests. Low points: Bit-height adjustments under the table are tedious. There’s no coarse adjustment, and the fine-adjustment knob is close to the router’s body. 1/4" collet not included in price. More points: Trigger-style power switch is located well for handheld use, but is more difficult to engage under the table than sliding switches or toggles.
Rack-and-pinion depth stop sets easily but lacks fine adjustment, and the stop rod tended to move when zeroing the scale. The RT-1800 would be a good choice for a handheld router, but there are better routers for table mounting.
