The cabinet shop work horse standard

Review Summary

Seriously this router is the one that's probably done most all the router work on most cabinets in America over the last 40 or more years, along with it's brother the 7310 trim router. It truly has been the cabinet shop standard for all those years and still continues today. I recently gave mine to one of my sons, not because I didn't like it,but because I have so many other routers I like better.
This is a solid , reliable time tested router, but compared to the more innovatively designed routers of today it's lacking in features. If I were to buy this one new today ,I would want to have this base along with a plunge base which you can purchase separately or as a kit. The older 690's were a little difficult to adjust because the knob that locked the motor in it's body was hard on the fingers to lock and unlock, but the new models today have a quick release knob which is easy to loosen and tighten.

My least favorite router

Review Summary

This is the first router I purchased and the last one I go to. I have to crank on the screw that locks the height to keep it from slipping. The base digs into the motor housing when I do that. The motor housing is all marred up because of this. The height adjustment is very crude and rough. It would be ok to dedicate it to one bit like a dovetail bit for a dovetail jig wheer you can set it up and leave it. There are better choices out there for the money.
