Great little Router

Review Summary

I purchased this router with the included router table base from Rockler for $169. I have yet to be disappointed. The router has plenty of power and I have had to slow it down with the on board speed control. The bits are easy to change and never get "stuck" in the collet. the under table base is adjustable from above the table and makes the more expensive router lift systems unnecessary. Good handles on the fixed base and a pleasure to use.

My favorite router

Review Summary

I've had this router for maybe 8-10 years and it has become my favorite.
At that time, I did not get it with plunge base (not sure it was even available), but I added that later, picking up a good buy at an auction. Pros: - Soft start - variable speed - "relatively" quiet running (for a router) - Comfortable, bi-directional, handles - Sits on top for resting between cuts - Comfortable, heavy duty, collet wrenches - Two step collet - loosens from the base, then another turn or so before the bit loosens. - Easy depth adjustment Cons - Proprietary guides. Does not accept de facto standard (Porter-Cable) bushings without an adapter. I ended up just buying the kit as my other router takes these and I wanted the option of having redundancy in case I needed the same diameter bushing on both routers with different bits. That way I could leave them both set up and swap back and forth when needed. On the plus side, it's quick and easy to swap in and out the Bosch bushings. - Seems to be metric based. Not a problem for me as I'm a switch hitter. But if you need one turn of dial to be so many fractional inches, this might not be to your liking.

My Work Horse

Review Summary

One heck of a nice router. It works as great on the table as it does in the hand. I've never had a kick back. It's heavy enough so that it doesn't jump around yet so balanced that I can use it for a while without getting tired.
