Nice planer

Review Summary

I wanted to get the bigger 735 Dewalt planer, but just couldn't spring for the extra $200 or so. So I went with this one and man I like it a lot! It cuts real well and it comes with the tables that don't come with the other Dewalt. The knives are easy to change when they wear out, which isn't as often as I was worried it would be. Overall, I'd recommend this planner.

A work Horse

Review Summary

I lowered the "Ease of Use" and "Value" ratings for two reasons. Screws were not provided to mount the Dust Hood. Also, I could not find in the user manual or the on-line Parts List the size of the screws required to mount the Dust Hood. (They are M4x0.7 thread by the way. 10mm length will work). Bench Top Planers have come a long way since I bought my last one (about 20 years ago)The "Performance" could not be better.
Right out of the box it planed flawless surfaces. The three blade cutter head is several steps above a two cutter design. The "depth-of-cut", "thickness-scale", and "depth stops" work great and are very handy. This is a heavy machine at 80lb, this translates to very low vibration. I love the "Head-Lock" feature and the four post support system. I also realy like the resetable scale on the height adjustment crank. I can't imagine being able to buy a better machine. Highly Recommended!

Great All Around Value

Review Summary

I have had mine for four and a half years and have put countless board feet of material, ash, cherry, walnut, both whit and red oak, just to mention some of the material . I have been very satisfied with performance and ease of use. Once I adjusted my out feed I have experienced little or no snipe. Not only a great tool but a super value. Perfect for my small shop.
