For many people, this simple, portable jig is all you need.

You get a two-hole jig with guide holes spaced 7/8" apart with centerlines marked on top for easy alignment, and it adjusts for workpiece thicknesses from 1/2" to 1-1/2" by simply sliding the adjustable sleeve/cleat, using the etched scale for quick reference. The drill bit is Kreg's exceptional bit that stayed sharpest in our testing, cutting the cleanest holes the longest. You don't get a clamp with the R3, but most one-hand ratcheting bar clamps, such as Irwin's Quick-Grip, fit into the slotted clamp pad and work well at holding the jig in place.
