WOOD magazine review

For common thicknesses, it's tough to beat

Review Summary

The predecessor to Kreg's current R3 jig, this one works great for making fast, easy, affordable pocket holes. It's easy to align on the workpiece by simply registering the cleat against the end or edge. It comes with a superb drill bit that stays sharp a long time and drills perfect pocket holes. The only downside to this jig is that it sets up for either 3/4"-thick or 1-1/2"-thick workpieces only. You add a spacer between the jig body and cleat for 1-1/2" stock.
But you have to keep track of two sets of screws for this spacer.

A quick and easy pocket hole solution

Review Summary

I purchased this set somewhere around 2006 and it's replaced using Porter Cable's FF-sized biscuits in my shop. Indexing is a breeze, and the great thing about this system is that the screws hold the joint tight while the glue is drying. The larger jigs, and especially the powered models, require you to take the wood to the tool. That can be problematic when you're trying to mill parts for a large cabinet face frame. With the R2 Rocket system you take the tool to the wood.
When you match this with the Kreg Bench Clamp you net a synergy of being able to hold the pieces still and milling your holes with no fuss whatsoever. I'd buy the R2 Rocket system again in a heartbeat.
