Best I have ever used.

Review Summary

I stopped using dowels because I never had much luck with alignment. I have had sever cheaper jigs and hated all of them. The first thing you notice about this jig is it is big and heavy for a piece of alunimum. It is very well machined. All you need to drill holes centered in different thicknesses is contained in the block. There are no shims to loose like the other jig. The first project I used it on was a somewhat complicated faceframe. The jig was very user friendly.
When I was done, all of the openings were square. That means that all of the dowels where where they were suppose to be. I didn't have to plug holes and redrill any of them. I am impressed. It is not the cheapest but it is not the most expensive either. If you use a lot of dowels, this is the jig to have.

If you need to use a dowel to add support the JessEm 08350 ia the way to go

Review Summary

This jig is not for the faint of heart, it is a heavy robust jig made to be used and by design very accurate. You do not need any other jig to place your dowels. The unit I have came with sizes for 1/4,3/8 and 1/2 dowels which I make in my shop as I need them. For connecting two boards together it is fast and provides for a good strong joint. Alignment is easy with the opening in the front that provides to the correct alignment.
