WOOD magazine review

Rockler Dozuki Dovetail Saw

Review Summary

This saw features a fine 25-teeth-per-inch (tpi) pitch, and produces a pencil-thin kerf (less than 1⁄64" thick). With its rigid back, it tracks true, although the stiffener limits the depth of cut to about 2".
(When crosscutting, though, we doubled that capacity by cutting 1/4" deep on all four sides of a thick workpiece, as if defining the shoulders of a tenon, then completed with full-depth cuts.) We hand-cut a few drawer dovetails using the Rockler Dozuki Dovetail Saw and it easily stayed on the layout lines, even cutting diagonal to the grain without wandering. When used to fine-tune the fit of some interior millwork, this saw excelled in both crosscutting and ripping. And we found we could cut close-fitting notches in the molding more accurately—and in less time—than with a power jigsaw.

Cuts hardwood like you're slicing bread

Review Summary

I bought the Dozuki dovtail saw to make box joints. I had previously used Two Cherries joint saws and they were good, but the Dozuki hit a home run right away. To test it, I cross cut a 2x2 walnut stick. It cut through like I was slicing a French bread with a sharp bread knife. Next I cut a 2x2x3 piece of walnut lenghtwise along the grain and there too I had quick and very clean cut. The teeth are fine and straight and do not leave cut marks on the wood.
You get a clean edge as if a power tool cut it. The bonus was I also got a spare blade for the price of the saw during a promotional offer.
