Description

Since dovetailing is a ripping operation, where the kerf is running with the grain, Lie-Nielsen's dovetail saw has its teeth filed to a rip profile. With 15 points per inch, this saw strikes an ideal balance between surface finish and speed. Teeth are set at .003" (.076mm) per side for a .026" (.66mm) kerf — narrow for straight cutting. Length, including handle, is 15" (38.1cm), with an overall height of 4¼" (10.79cm). Usable blade dimensions are 10" (25.4cm) long by 1-5/8" (4.12cm) deep (.020" (.5mm) thick).

Lie-Nielsen will resharpen this saw for $15, including return shipping (within the U.S.).

Beautiful tool

Review Summary

I've had this and the companion crosscut saw for about a year. Both are flawless, beautiful, easy to use tools. This saw has helped me begin to master hand cut dovetails. The only reason I gave it a 4 for value is I willingly spent the extra money for this saw simply for the beauty of the curly maple handle. It was one of the few luxuries I have sprung for simply for the beauty of it. I love looking at it hanging on the tool wall of my shop.
I probably could have paid less for a similar tool. To me it was worth it, but not sure everyone would concur.

Lie-Nielsen's reputation for superior craftsmanship is maintained with this finely made saw. Well balanced, a joy to hold and use. Perfectly tuned right out of the box. Doesn't hurt that it looks great too.
