Neat, clean, efficient

Review Summary

Often it's just easier to grab a radius plane to break an edge than it is to set up a router for the same operation. Fastcap's small radius plane is just such a tool. It's got a notched sole to allow you to follow a 90° edge, and the iron is ground and notched to create a 1/16" radius edge. It takes a couple of minutes to fettle this plane and to get the iron in exactly the right spot, but once it's set it seems to stay right where you left it.
Mine hasn't needed a single bit of adjustment in over two years. There's not much to say about this other than it's very attractive, it's very effective and it's extremely affordable. It just works. But do be mindful of grain direction when in use. Always plane 'downhill', as they say. You can get a touch of tearout if you plane uphil. But really... isn't that the rule of thumb with all hand planes? Good stuff.
