Description

With its low angle, fully supported blade, this block plane produces smooth cuts. The body is a gray iron casting with machined and polished sides and sole plate and has black enamel finish on unmachined surfaces. Made from high quality carbon steel, the 35mm wide blade is hardened to Rc-58 and set at an angle of 13.5º making it perfect for end grain cutting and taking fine finishing cuts. The mouth and depth of cut are fully adjustable using the knurled brass knobs and allows both heavy cuts and fine shavings to be taken. Measuring only 150mm long and weighing 595g, this block plane is well suited to single handed use.

WOOD magazine review

Fussy adjusters limit this plane's ability

Review Summary

When we tested low-angle block planes, this Anant needed the most time—over two hours of lapping—to flatten the sole. The lateral blade adjuster was sloppy and difficult to adjust; the blade depth adjuster showed the most backlash, making blade adjustments more tedious. Once we got past those obstacles and the blade was sharp, the plane cut decently, but it's not a tool we'd recommend.
