Shop Fox Dust-Collector Remote Control

Review Summary

In a crowded shop you may have to bob and weave across the room just to get to the dust collector. Then bend and reach over the blower to flip the switch, which is mounted about 16" off the floor. It’s terribly inconvenient. Shop Fox's D3038 remote turns it on from anywhere in the shop. It even works from two rooms away despite dividing walls.
We especially like that it comes with two remotes, but did not like the dangly clips because every time we reached for the remote we had to spin the unit to find the switch.

Nice product but DON'T DROP THE REMOTE!

Review Summary

Nice product but don't drop the remote. If you do, prepare to throw it away and use your backup. One drop onto a concrete garage floor (from waist height) and the remote will immediately stop working. Happened to me twice. The first time I sent the unit back; not the remote but the entire unit. Apparently the remotes are wired to the circuit board inside the main unit so if you have to replace a remote you cannot simply send it back for another one, you have to send everything back.
I did this once and the customer service was very good but shortly after I received the second unit I moved a kitchen cabinet I was working on (the one that was hiding my remote) and it knocked the remote to the floor again. Bam, another dead remote. I am still working with my backup remote but if it breaks I am going to throw the whole thing away and purchase a different brand that is a bit sturdier.

Works just fine!

Review Summary

I picked this remote (220V version) because it was cheaper than some others. It works fine, but as another reviewer said, protect the remotes. Mine haven't broken, but the seal over the on-off buttons is beginning to peel off. The top section of the antenna on my receiver also snapped off when the unit fell on the floor. Still works, but again, mount it somewhere secure. Overall, a good value because it does what the more expensive ones do and costs less.
