Most floor-standing drill presses provide 3 to 4-1/2" of quill stroke (the maximum boring depth).…
Delta’s 18-900L nearly doubles that with a 6-1/8" stroke—all in a single rotation of the quill handle. No more drilling part way and then raising the table to finish the job. This 18" drill press also eliminates the hassle of leveraging the motor to tension the drive belt. With the 18-900L, a spring-loaded idler roller automatically tensions the belts regardless of the speed (16 choices from 170 to 3,000 rpm). And there’s much more to like about this machine: Its massive head and powerful 3/4-hp motor would make it top heavy if not for the large, stable base. The 14×20 table tilts 50° forward and 90° to each side. T-slots, diagonal slots, and rim-free table edges give you plenty of clamping options. It also has Delta’s unique quick-release depth-stop that helps you make large adjustments quickly and fine adjustments accurately. It maintained its depth settings without fail in our testing. Finally, we like its crosshair lasers and LED work light for pinpoint bit placement.
