Solid-locking 3-jaw chuck

Review Summary

• Torque is solidly middle-of-the-pack in our test of 10 drills.
• Good balance with easy access to trigger and directional switch; comfortable to hold and use for long periods. • On-drill battery indicator tells you amount of charge in inserted battery pack. • Forward/reverse selector easily activated yet has a positive feel to it. • The charger is wall mountable. • Indicator lights on charger are easy to understand. • 5 year warranty. • Comes with two driver bits. • Three-jaw chuck automatically locks when not being driven by motor, letting you fine-torque screws if needed. • Run time is about 30% less than the 1/4" hex chuck Milwaukee 2401-22, as demonstrated in our endurance tests of driving screws and drilling holes. • Speed selection effects the sensitivity of the clutch setting: Clutch setting 1 on low speed range created more torque than clutch setting 1 on high speed range. • This model weighs ½ lb more than the Milwaukee 2401-22 screwdriver.

Excellent drill/driver

Review Summary

Really solid well made drill and driver with all the power and features that even an experienced woodworker will need. The Lion battery system is awesome; very good working duration and these batteries are so much smaller and lighter than the older drills with the Nicads that it makes using this drill a pleasure. The torque adjustment is great and the forward/reverse switch is ergonomically great. My only complaint is that the hi/lo speed switch is a little awkward to use.
The third and best cordless drill I've ever owned !

My go-to driver/drill

Review Summary

I really love my Milwaukee. I seldom use other drills unless I'm going to be doing really heavy duty drilling and driving. The 12V Milwaukee feels really solid, is well balanced, and delivers drilling capacity for a long time. Hand fatigue is not something I've experienced with the Milwaukee. It feels like a perfect fit in my hand, which are probably average size, and has a smooth all metal transmission. The light provides plenty of illumination just where you need it.
The chuck jaws provide positive bit so that even traditional round bits stay firmly in place. The batteries last quite a while, and even when I had not used the drill for a while, the battery still maintained a charge. As a matter of fact, the spare battery seems to always be ready to go, not matter how long it was sitting in waiting in the case. And when I do need to charge, it doesn't take long so you can keep on working non-stop all day if necessary! There are plenty of torque adjustment settings to meet all your needs, and "feathering" the trigger is pretty easy for me to do. Also, because of it's light weight, I can handle it in overhead or other awkward positions with ease for long periods of time. I've owned several other driver drills and this Milwaukee is definitely my favorite. I really don't have any complaints about this little gem.

Small drill body, Big battery charge

Review Summary

Excellent drill/driver. This was a tool purchased on sale which I didn't really have a need for at that time, brought it home charged the batteries tested one or two gripper type screws then packed it back up. It has sat on a shelf for over a year. Currently redoing some duct work on the dust collection system I needed a smaller body drill to get into some tight spots.
Got the Milwaukee carrier and drill off the shelf, blew off a lot of dust, stuck one of the batteries in the bottom, the drill fired right up. Not a weak spin but a battery charge that lasted the rest of the day. The unit is well balanced, feels solid and well made. Everything that others have said I agree with. My only knock on the unit is the Forward - Reverse slide selector. When in reverse and pulling the power trigger the smaller size of the drill body puts the F/R selector under my index finger and about 50% of the time I knock it into neutral. With that one minor item I'm still glad this drill in the shop and it really does the job of drills much larger.
