straight edge guide/clamp

Review Summary

I purchased three of these to assist in clamping solid edges on plywood, for which they performed well. They have a deeper jaw, similar to the Bora ones on the market. The deeper jaw helped in the gluing process, as this makes it possible to run these perpendicular(over the top) to the other brand clamps, with the shorter depth jaw. These also have the adjustable jaws so you can clamp them at slight angles across stock if needed, when using as a cutting guide.
They seem quite flimsy compared to others on the market. They don't have t slots on the top for adding any accessory guides and the plastic handles seem pretty cheap, like they wouldn't hold up under a lot of use. The steel rod underneath is also made from softer metal, than the other two brands I use, which gets nicked up easily from cinching down the handle. This makes adjusting the clamp for different lengths more difficult over time in use. Considering the price of these is about a third of what others are going for they do a good job, just don't expect them to hold up under heavy use. I was concerned about the quality of these when I purchased them, but was assured that if they ever broke that they would replace them them for free, as they have a lifetime warranty, thus earning a 5 star value rating from me. They fared pretty well in the reviews on the Harbor Freight site, pretty much in line with my review here.

Use and Investment

Review Summary

I have almost $405 in clamps. Of these 12 are Pittsburgh. Four of those are straight edge, 2 - 2 foot and 2 - 4 foot. I have used them sparingly, but in each case they performed as expected. To make a couple of panels and hold a cabinet together while working on it. They are not as good as the one Bessey that I have, but they do get the job done.
