WOOD magazine review

No-fuss toggle clamps self-adjust to thickness

Review Summary

Toggle clamps have been around for years, but getting them to apply just the right amount of clamping force takes a lot of trial-and-error tinkering. With Bessey’s Auto-Adjust hold-down clamps, you set the bolt to an approximate depth, and the spring-loaded tensioning system automatically locks your workpiece in place—even when going from 1"-thick stock to 2" material.
And you can vary the amount of clamping force, from 25 to 550 lbs, by adjusting a screw under the handle. These clamps come in hold-down style with low- and high-clearance mounting bases, as well as inline style. The hold-down clamps have a capacity up to 25⁄8"; the inline clamps have 1" of clamping range.

Awesome clamps !

Review Summary

I use one of these on my home made adjustable work bench dog leg. They grip wonderfully and it's a real plus not having to adjust for working on different thicknesses of stock I'm clamping to the front to my work bench, which I would have to do if I were using the normal style toggles clamps. They are solidly built and easy to operate, and they supply more than enough grip for any ones woodworking needs. These were overdue and are much appreciated.
Any innovation that saves me time and hassle in the wood shop is a plus. Of course being the frugal person I am, I got them on sale at Peachtree Woodworking for almost half what they normally sell for.
